LAKESIDE BEACH STATE PARK

PARK INFORMATION

Lakeside Beach State Park, located in Waterport, New York, was established in 1962 and opened for camping in 1968. Originally the property was farm land with fruit orchards and lake front cottages. Today, several spots in the camping area still show concrete supports and slabs where cottages once stood.

The 743 acres of land that make up the park are located along Lake Ontario between its shoreline and the Lake Ontario State Parkway.

The first entrance road was located across from the " D " loop. When the parkway was extended in 1970, the entrance road was moved to its present location. The picnic area was contracted in 1977 through 1979 and opened to the public in 1980.

Lakeside Beach State Park offers an outstanding panoramic view of Lake Ontario with the serene atmosphere of country living, surrounded by fruit orchards and farm lands.

PERSONAL REVIEW

As far as the Public Parks, this one has to be our most favorite. Very clean and spacious, this park is beautiful! If you reserve ahead of time, I recommend the prime sites on the lake, or the "D" loop. These sites are located in the "non-pet" areas however. With 4 playgrounds, the children will have fun!

A short drive into town has restaurants, and my favorite "Brown's Berry-Patch". An orchard with pick-your-own produce, bakery, gift shop, ice cream, and petting zoo. The Fall Festival was one the kids will remember! Clowns and face painting, along with other activities made this a memorable trip.

We have camped here several times, and have our reservations made for this year already! I would advise anyone traveling in northern New York State to visit Lakeside Beach State Park.
